What is Digital Addiction?

Digital addiction refers to compulsive and uncontrollable engagement with digital devices, platforms or behaviors like social media, gaming, streaming or smartphone use. It is characterized by preoccupation with the digital activity, increasing time spent on it, experiencing withdrawal symptoms when unable to engage, interference with other life areas, and repeated failed attempts to control the behavior.

The Impact

Disconnect with Real-Life

When struggling with a digital addiction people stop doing fun activities. They don't exercise or play sports anymore. The digital games and apps take over their time. Their hobbies get left behind.

Eroding Self-Discipline

Digital addiction makes it hard to have good habits. It causes people to stay up late at night on their devices instead of sleeping. Meal times get skipped because they are too busy on their screens. Daily routines fall apart.

Dangerous Comorbidities

The social isolation and chemical imbalances caused by digital addiction can lead to an increased risk for alcohol and substance abuse problems, disordered eating, anxiety disorders, depression, and other mental health issues.

Understand our approach to digital wellness

  • Unlike one-size-fits-all blockers, we have a personalized approach. We look to understand your specific habits and motivations. We also offer community support and on-demand resources. Our approach is holistic and people-centric. We look to help people stay more present and connected.

  • We know it’s important for you to know you’re not alone. This journey is hard. Our online forum connects you to others on that same journey to make the process a little easier. Sharing challenges, advice, and encouragement creates an important added layer of motivation and accountability.
